Catla Fish – Fresh, Cut and Cleaned for Your Kitchen

The Catla fish we deliver typically ranges between 2.5 kg to 3.5 kg in size. These fish are harvested through aquaculture in the ponds of Bengal, Odisha and other regions. Unlike the smaller live Catla sometimes seen in the market, these are larger fish that provide generous cuts ideal for family cooking.

Product Details

• Net Delivery Without Head – Catla is supplied as body pieces only (gada, peti and leja). The head is not included but can be purchased separately as a different product.

• Cut, Cleaned and Ready to Use – Like all our fish, Catla is delivered after dressing, which includes cutting, cleaning, washing and hygienic packing. In Bengali, this means the fish is delivered as “ansh charano, kata mach deya hoy”.

• Net Weight Basis – Due to cutting, cleaning and removal of the head, there is a weight loss of about 40 to 45 per cent. From every 1 kilogram of fish, you receive around 550 to 600 grams of dressed Catla. Since Catla has a comparatively larger head, the reduction is higher than in other fish. The larger the fish, the more the loss during dressing.

• Price Transparency – The price shown is for the net dressed weight delivered to you. It cannot be directly compared with the open market whole-fish price in Siliguri, where fish is sold with head and without dressing.

• Piece Size – The fish is cut into medium-sized pieces. In a 500-gram packet, you can expect around 7 to 9 pieces on average.
